About Us
“You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2: 19-20)

The Presbyterian Church of LaPorte is a Christian community of believers who trust in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We seek to find God’s leading in our individual lives, to grow in love and to serve God in each other's good company. We believe the Old and New Testaments of the Bible to be a reliable witness to God's story in the past. We study the scriptures to discover God’s story in our present. We seek to be faithful and to secure God's story for the future.

We are proud to be Presbyterian Church USA!

We are an historic church, proud of our heritage while seeking to make faith relevant in a new day.

We gladly include “La Porte” in the name of our church. We belong to the city of La Porte.

Winter Sermon Series: Secrets and Clues

One of the interesting themes in Mark’s Gospel is what scholars refer to as the “Messianic Secret.”  Mark remembers that Jesus was a bit secretive about his identity, at least in the early days of his ministry.  Certainly, part of the reason for this was that the longer Jesus’ ministry went on, the larger the crowds grew.  This began to attract the attention of the authorities and so, on occasion Jesus would disappeared for a while or travel outside Jewish boundaries into Samaritan or Gentile lands.

Passion Season 2018

Is on the church calendar with the beginning of Lent Ash Wednesday, February 14th, and ends on Pentecost May 20th

This year’s Lenten devotional titled “Jesus and the Prophets” will take us on a journey to learn more about Jesus from the Prophets’ point of view.

During this period as God’s children, we experience a range of emotions.  From the joy of Jesus entering Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, to the sorrow and disbelief of Jesus’ betrayal and execution on Good Friday, to the elation of Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday. This year again will offer several activities during the Passion Season to celebrate, worship and be together as a church “family”.
