“The Lord has told us what is good. What he requires of us is this: to do what is just, to show constant love, and to live in humble fellowship with our God.” (Micah 6:8)
Disciples of Jesus Christ serve the Lord in lots of ways. We worship. We share and teach the faith. We love each other and look after the needy in our church family. We express God's compassion in our community of La Porte and in the world in a variety of ways. Here is some of what's happening:

Mission Trip

Our church takes a biennial mission trip to help those in need in other parts of the country. This is an inter-generational trip which includes high school youth (rising ninth graders and above), young adults and adults of all ages. It’s great to watch our 80-year-olds helping our young people develop new skills while helping those who are less fortunate.

Head Start

We proudly host the local Head Start program. Low income children receive preschool education, nutritious meals and snacks, health screenings and transportation to school. The Presbyterian Church of La Porte has been delighted to offer classroom space to Head Start and to partner with them to provide a beautiful new playground for Head Start children and children in our community!

Salvation Army

Jesus spoke a word to the Father, food was multiplied and hungry people were fed. Every third Thursday Presbyterians gladly prepare and serve supper at the Salvation Army center in La Porte. We also take a monthly offering on Communion Sundays for the purchase of food for the Salvation Army Food Bank. It’s our way of extending the table of the Lord Jesus into the world.

The annual La Porte County CROP Walk happens every year on the last Sunday of September. Last year The Presbyterian Church of La Porte had 22 participants and raised over $1,000.00 for CROP.
We are eager to walk again this coming September for Crop!

Garage Sale

The Annual Church Garage Sale is hosted by the Presbyterian Women. Money earned is donated locally. This event takes place in early October and again in the spring. The proceeds from the May 2017 sale provided children's books for the La Porte Library summer project.

Circle of Friendship

Our church hosts a gathering of physically handicapped people each month (except January and February). The group is called Circle of Friendship. They meet the first Saturday of the month for a luncheon and a program of interest to the members.

We have a lot of variety in service opportunities.

We value all the gifts – great and small.

We think it’s great fun to work together!
